Wound Care Services
Post-Surgical Wound Care
Most surgical incisions heal without complication, but some wounds open, drain, or heal more slowly than expected. This service focuses on assessment and management of appropriate post-surgical wound concerns after your surgeon has cleared you for this type of follow-up care.

Who This May Be For
- Patients with a surgical incision that has opened or is draining
- Patients whose surgical wound is healing more slowly than expected
- Patients who need ongoing dressing changes after a procedure
- Patients referred by a surgeon or primary care provider for wound follow-up
What to Expect
- Assessment of the surgical site, including drainage, closure and surrounding skin
- Identification of factors that may be contributing to delayed healing
- An individualized dressing-management plan
- Communication back to the referring surgeon or provider when appropriate
When to Seek Care
- A surgical incision that has separated or reopened
- Increasing redness, warmth, drainage or odor at a surgical site
- A wound that your surgical team has referred for ongoing management
- Uncertainty about how to care for a healing incision at home
